Vogue India and Seams For Dreams, an initiative launched by Evelyn Sharma, have come together to organise the exclusive, ‘by-invite-only’ Garage Sale, held on August 24 at Olive Bar & Kitchen, Mumbai. The proceeds collected from the sale will be donated towards the restoration of earthquake-stricken Nepal, through the NGO SOS. From fashionistas and socialites to a few personal clothes from Bollywood celebrities including Evelyn- the clothes donated for contribution to sales at the event were from all over the world.
The idea behind the fundraiser is to bring together the most stylish items to make second hand clothes a fashion trend amongst the trendiest in Mumbai – designers, fashion and movie stylists. Garage Sale is the first step towards creating a change in society and using the power of love and humanity in Bollywood to create awareness and raise funds for a good cause. The items showcased at the Garage Sale were from all over the world: India, Germany, UK, US, Canada, SA, Thailand, Philippines, Hong Kong, Japan, etc. from street markets to high end brands.
Evelyn Sharma was ecstatic about the response from the Bollywood industry about the recently launched foundation Seams For Dreams. She said, “It was just a small idea of using fashion to give back to society, I would have never expected this great of a response! We have received more than 2000 items of clothing by now and lots of them are old movie costumes, personal clothing from my co-stars and amazing fashionable items my fans have sent in from all around the world to support a good cause! I am overwhelmed by all the love!”
Vogue India continues its concerted efforts towards drawing attention to ongoing social awareness initiatives and this association is another step in that direction. It has lent its support, in the capacity as a magazine, connecting influencers, and reaching out to its readers to help support the restoration of Nepal through charity.
All geared up about the association with Vogue India, Evelyn adds, “I am super excited to have the first fundraiser Garage Sale in association with Vogue India! I was delighted when they decided to come on board for this fashionable event with the cause of restoring Nepal!”
