Dear Friends,
As you all know, Seams For Dreams uses the universal love for fashion to give back to humanity and I continue to be grateful for the help that we receive from all of our supporters, all of whom have big hearts that empower them to give back! Our goal remains the same – to clothe 100,000 people across India, one layer at a time.
The Mumbai monsoons have come pouring down hard on our city and what better time to think of others than a season when homes and livelihoods of those less fortunate may be in jeopardy. With the rains, it becomes harder to find and do work and many individuals have homes that barely have roofs or proper electricity. I want to encourage everyone to donate what they can to help others at least have appropriate clothing during this monsoon season. Let’s scan our wardrobes to see what we haven’t worn in months and make space in your hearts and closets!
The Seams For Dreams team is thankful to our donors and would like to give everyone an update on the wonderful initiatives we have going on!
In the month of June, our team received more than 500 pieces of clothing donations, which were then sent out to our affiliate NGOs.
Partner NGOs and Outreach Efforts:
Just last month, SFD provided almost 500 items of second-hand clothing for children, men, and women through the affiliated non-profits and their respective outreach efforts. The recipients of the distribution missions were Green Yatra and Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust.
SFD Upcycling Project:
Seams For Dreams has already started working on a new up-cycled collection, which is going to be pieced together from all of your wonderful donations! The new line has a very retro-pop feel, inculcating lots of vintage elements from the 60s and 70s. This collection will be launched this month! Stay tuned on our Social Media to know more!
Event with French Curiosity Club:
The FCC Mumbai is a series of monthly meet-ups aiming to shed the light on talented and ambitious women who inspire an international audience in handpicked venues around the city. At the first “Engage by FCC” event, which was held at Su Casa in Bandra on the 6th of June, the SFD team collected 160 pieces of clothing as donations from all the attendees.
Movement Sanctuary Event:
On International Yoga Day, 21st of June, a local Bandra yoga studio called Movement Sanctuary hosted a charity yoga day where attendees were asked to bring clothes donations for Seams For Dreams’ efforts. The team collected 102 items in clothing donations throughout the day.
Be sure to stay tuned on our SFD Blog for more updates on our programs and events.
