Hi, Friends and SFD Supporters!
I’m Evelyn Sharma and most of you know that I’m the founder of Seams For Dreams. The month of July is super special for us, as we are crossing 4 whole years of Seams For Dreams and it’s all thanks to everyone who has supported our mission to give in style. None of this would have been possible without all of your clothing donations that keep pouring in so that we can continue to help people in need month after month. Our vision is to give your closet a purpose and to spread awareness about sustainability.
So, what exactly happens when you donate to Seams For Dreams?
All of your clothes are segregated into 3 parts:
The first part is re-using your clothes – we redistribute your appropriate clothing to under-resourced communities across India, clothing them one layer at a time. We also reuse your high-end clothing by raising funds at our garage sale to support our charity foundation’s operations throughout the year!
The second part is recycling – all of your scrap fabrics and clothing that cannot be utilized anymore are given to our partner NGOs that recycle scrap fabrics.
The third part of our process is upcycling! A good example of this is our SFD Love Bundle project, which is an initiative you can personally support by sponsoring a Love Bundle for just Rs. 500. Each Love Bundle is donated to an individual in need and is made out of all of your lovely scrap pieces.
Another way our team upcycles is our exclusive, upcycled collection that has been going for three years strong now! Our goal with this line is to encourage individuals in the fashion industry, students included, to utilize existing pieces to create more magic! This alone reduces our carbon footprint immensely and all it requires is a little touch of creativity.
Finally, I’m so excited to be the face of CollAction’s Slow Fashion Season campaign as their global ambassador for India. I’ve joined almost 15,000 others around the world who have made a pact to not purchase any new clothing for three whole months. While sign-ups to join the movement is closed, you can still make a difference by making your own commitment anyway.
Help us keep spreading that message of reusing, recycling and upcycling to show Planet Earth some love and take care of it while we can!
Keep giving in style!
