Held at a quaint South Mumbai professional haven called Ministry of New on the 7th of September and a top fashion institute called FAD International on the 14th of September, Mumbai’s third clothes swap was a brilliant success. The swap was hosted by Fairtrunk and Global Fashion Exchange during Fashion Revolution Week, but this was no ordinary clothes swap. All participants were asked to bring no more than 10 pre-loved items that could be swapped out for tokens that could be used towards the purchase of other pre-loved clothing. Any piece of clothing that didn’t pass the event’s garment quality screen was then donated to Seams For Dreams!
In addition, Seams ForDreams provided some pre-loved clothing for swapping and also collected scraps or leftover items received from the event. The SFD HQ is now restocked with awesome pieces of men and women’s clothing from someone else’s closet that can now be donated to someone in need. Of course, all clothes are either donated to various SFD partner NGOs or upcycled as part of SFD’s awareness initiatives. Stay tuned here on the SFD blog and social media @seamsfordreams for more information on events like this one and how you can be involved with our efforts.
Keep giving in style!
