SFD Founder’s Note & September Updates by Evelyn Sharma

Dear Friends,

Warm greetings to all!

I am pleased to announce that since the inauguration of Seams For Dreams in 2015, we have been able to supply over 6,000 items of clothing throughout India, with a significant increase in men’s wear and children clothing. As discussed in our previous news articles, we have been focusing a lot as an organization on expanding our logistics and operations through fundraising efforts so we can reach beyond Mumbai and help other cities that could use our support.

In the month of August, our team has received more than 500 pieces of clothing donations, and were further sent out to affiliate NGOs.

We are ever so thankful to our donors and would like to give you all an update on the wonderful projects we have going on!

Upcycled fashion line: Seams For Dreams has recently added fashion design intern Shagun Joshi to the team who is in charge of creating the new SFD upcycled fashion line made from scraps from the clothing donations you all have so graciously contributed. Shagun is in the process of creating sketches and planning out all the lovely pieces we will be selling during our garage sale. Find out more about our previous line here.

Board of Visionaries: This new membership development effort was launched last month in order to increase visibility for SFD and allow individuals to become contributing members of SFD. By joining the board, members will get to be a part of all the organization’s initiatives.

Partner NGOs and outreach efforts: In August, SFD collaborated with Bal Asha Trust and Sharansthan to provide clothing to children in need. We donated more than 300 clothing donation to the organisation.

Green Soles Auction: Last month, we announced our partnership with GreenSoles, a social enterprise that recycles old shoes and provides them to children in need. Our founder Evelyn Sharma donated pairs of her own shoes and the organisation was able to transform them into new pairs that are being auctioned off to raise funds for charitable causes this September. Bed sheet donation with The Hope Collab: Last month, SFD was busy collecting bed sheets for an old-age home with the latest outreach program in collaboration with The Hope Collab. We were able to collect more than 100 sheets and have been preparing them for distribution!
