Last week, the Seams For Dreams team pulled off an amazing event for the 4th annual Christmas Garage Sale. The sale featured lots of vintage clothing that were donated by designers, stylists, and celebs, and beautifully designed t-shirts that were created by Gavin Miguel.
Many clothes were sold and guests made merry in the spirit of the holidays with delectable food and drinks. Of course, live performances in the evening time were a treat for all and many were seen enjoying the music and holiday ambiance.
The entire team is still working on tallying up the number of donations that will eventually go towards the mission of clothing 100,000 people across India. All contributions from the event, including the clothing and the food and drinks, will go directly to those less fortunate and the turn-out was a raging success.
This was an exciting time for founder Evelyn Sharma and many of her friends from the film and fashion industry came to support the cause. Stars like Elnaaz Norouzi, Adeel Chaudhry, Elli Avram, Shweta Rohira, Anisa Butt, Rochelle Rao, Keith Sequeira, Konkana Bakshi, and Daniel Weber were present, and ace designers Rocky S, Jenny Rei, fashion entrepreneur Jhelum Gopal Dalvi, Gabriella Demetriades, etc.were all seen shopping and spreading the holiday cheer with friends.
As the entire team continues to work towards the goal of helping more people in need, expansion efforts and distribution missions have already begun to take place. With all the donations received from all of supporters, SFD is now on the search for more organizations to help. This week, the SFD team is gearing up to donate another 300-400 articles of clothing to their partner NGO Green Yatra, an organization that aims to make the world a better place by educating others about environmental issues.
Based on an article published in 2016, 65% of the elderly in India are poor and don’t have access to basic needs such as suitable housing, medications, and nutritious food. Furthermore, some of them even face issues such as abuse and isolation, and many of them are not even aware of their rights.
Seams For Dreams and The Hope Collab are once again coming together to celebrate the Christmas season with the elderly on the 16th of December 2017 at The King George V Memorial, Mahalaxmi, in Mumbai. The event is organized by The Hope Collab, an initiative that spreads love and hope among the neighbourhoods and communities of Mumbai.
Seams For Dreams plans on helping the elderly by strategically partnering with organizations such as The Hope Collab that are already doing fantastic work and reach out to the people in their neighborhoods to spread love and light.
With that being said, SFD is proud to announce that the newest outreach program aims to renovate The King George V Memorial elderly home, which urgently requires new linens among many other things. SFD collected over 100 sheets and will have them distributed on the 16th of December at the Christmas celebration, where there will be other activities like dance performances, exciting kids’ games, and presents too! The SFD team is really grateful that they can participate in giving back more this holiday season and helping additional folks who need it. Happy Holidays!
