As Seams For Dreams turns one year we are thrilled to kick off our first awareness campaign! For the next few weeks we want to speak about the importance of upcycling and why you should donate these old seams to fuel someone’s new dreams!
Definition: Upcycling, also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless and/or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value.
Reiner Pilz once said about the impending EU Demolition Waste Streams directive “Recycling? I call it downcycling. They smash bricks, they smash everything. What we need is upcycling, where old products are given more value, not less.”
If we take a look into our own closets, we hoard. The fashionable pieces we own are used only three to four times and are not yet ready to recycle. However, they need to be upcycled to become new and desirable again!
At Seams For Dreams we use the universal love for fashion to give back to humanity. Here you can donate ALL of your clothes. We will segregate these items into clothes that can be given straight to people in need of appropriate clothing like or kurtas, jeans and t-shirts; your fashion that will be resold at our fundraising events, the Garage Sale, in support of our social causes; and clothes that can be used for our upcycling projects!
Together we want to find ways to use fashion to give back to the world around us. Help people, safe nature, stop global warming. SFD’s vision becomes stronger and bigger with every day we grow.
WEAR. WASH. LOVE. REPEAT.
Keep giving in style!
