As I recover from the sugar rush of Valentine’s Day celebrations and pick up the fallen rose petals from the dining table, I take a moment to reflect about the true meaning of love. Is it really all about flowers and candy on one dedicated day?
Love is what we first experience the day we are born and placed in our mother’s arms. Love is what we keep longing for and search for all our life. We want to find people who treasure us, celebrate us and spoil us with gifts and kisses. By the time we turn 20 years old love has taken an almost selfish place in our lives. We want love, we say we deserve better and we hold grudges against people who don’t love us enough.
But is love really about taking? I believe love is only experienced in giving. Like the day when your mother took you into her arms to stop you from crying, to give love and warmth, to make you feel safe. Love is shown in the small selfless actions. Giving someone a tight hug, buying food for someone hungry, or simply spending time with someone who needed to talk.
Let’s turn our definition of love upside down! Stop wanting, and start giving. You will be surprised how love will take over your life!
With Seams For Dreams we believe in the power of giving. This Valentine’s Day we again distributed our signature up-cycled roses to bring smiles on people’s faces. Bringing value back to valueless with our up-cycling projects, we spread the message of love and raise funds to help people in need.
