Last week on Saturday 15th of December, the Seams For Dreams team pulled off an amazing event for the 5th annual Christmas Garage Sale. The sale featured lots of vintage clothing items that were donated by sustainable brands, designers, stylists, and celebs, and beautifully designed t-shirts that were created by Salita Nanda.
Many clothes were sold and guests made merry in the spirit of the holidays with delectable food and drinks. Of course, Christmas carols throughout the day were a treat for all and many were seen enjoying the music and holiday ambiance.
The entire team is still working on tallying up the number of donations that will eventually go towards the mission of clothing 100,000 people across India. All contributions from the event, including the clothing and the food and drinks, will go directly to those less fortunate and the turn-out was a raging success.
This was an exciting time for founder Evelyn Sharma and many of her friends from the film and fashion industry came to support the cause and all were all seen shopping and spreading the holiday cheer with friends. Many also won lovely raffle prizes from SFD partners Ras Luxury Oils, Anchaviyo Resorts, Color Cafe, Four Fountains Spa, and Movement/Liquid Sanctuary. The gifting partners were Ras Luxury Oils, Natch, The Farmer’s Store, Pure Nutrition, Naturma, and Artsy Chic. After all, it’s not Christmas without giving meaningful gifts! Seams For Dreams is grateful for all the support from our raffle and gifting partners, who so generously donated.
As the entire team continues to work towards the goal of helping more people in need, expansion efforts and distribution missions have already begun to take place. With all the donations received from all of the supporters, SFD is now on the search for more organizations to help. This week, the SFD team is gearing up to donate another 300-400 articles of clothing to their partner NGO Green Yatra, an organization that aims to make the world a better place by educating others about environmental issues.
Based on an article published in 2016, 65% of the elderly in India are poor and don’t have access to basic needs such as suitable housing, medications, and nutritious food. Furthermore, some of them even face issues such as abuse and isolation, and many of them are not even aware of their rights.
Hence, Seams For Dreams and The Hope Collab are once again coming together to celebrate the Christmas season with the elderly on the 22nd of December 2018 at The King George V Memorial, Mahalaxmi, in Mumbai. The event is organized by The Hope Collab, an initiative that spreads love and hope among the neighborhoods and communities of Mumbai.
With that being said, SFD is proud to announce the second Love Bundle distribution. SFD will distribute over 70 Bundles and will have them distributed on the 22nd of December at the Christmas celebration. The products will be distributed through our partner organization The Hope Collab to host the annual Christmas Party at the King George Memorial home for the old aged. The event is happening on the 22nd of December and will consist of a Christmas caroling program, Love Bundle distribution, and a special meal for all residents. The SFD team is really grateful that they can participate in giving back more this holiday season and helping additional folks who need it. Happy Holidays!
