Seams For Dreams loves hearing about fellow fashion-driven organizations and efforts that go on internationally. This year at the 71st Cannes Film Festival, Fashion for Relief’s spokeswoman Naomi Campbell hosted a fashion show for the Times Up initiative this past Sunday at Aeroport Cannes Mandelieu.
The wonderful thing about the organization is that the various fashion shows held all benefit different efforts and humanitarian causes. In the past, Fashion For Relief has raised millions for Haiti, Hurricane Katrina, tsunami and earthquake relief efforts in Japan. The organization was launched in 2005 and is associated with the large London-based non-profit CARE.
Naomi Campbell alluded to this being one of her last runway shows because she wanted to hand over the reins to the younger generation. At this event’s fashion show, supermodels Bella Hadid and Winnie Harlow joined Campbell on the runway.

Utilizing fashion for a cause is by no means a new phenomenon, but we are now seeing a big rise within the industry to make a change. Since fashion is something that humans have interaction with every day, no matter what someone is wearing, it is ever important to use the fashion platform to somehow give back. It is also great to see so many faces of high-fashion and the runways come together to make a bold statement!
At Seams For Dreams, we can only hope that we keep hearing about such inspiring stories from all over the world about how fashion can be used to do good also!
Keep giving in style!
