It’s Fashion Friday and today actor and host Anisa Butt is sharing picks of her favourite vintage stores in London! If you are travelling this festive season or are based in UK, it’s a must to check out these secret treasure troves!
“Vintage is a rising trend in India but since long a part and parcel of other city cultures, like London where I am from. In fact, all over UK you can find some fabulous hide away vintage clothing boutiques, with second hand items at reasonable prices and in great condition.
If you men out there think vintage is just targeted at shopaholic women who can never own enough clothes, I assure you it is not. A lot of the vintage stores in London also stock garments for the fashionable gentlemen, too! “Pre-loved”, how we called in Europe, opens the chance to own amazing items from different decades, like hats, suspenders, jackets and or even ball gowns and tuxedos from the 1920s to today!

Check out these some of my favourite vintage stores in London:
Absolute Vintage
Has a store in both East London and now central: in Soho. You can find both men and women garments, bags and accessories in perfect condition. Its also not limited to just designer clothing, so can get some great bargains! http://www.absolutevintage.co.uk/
Peekaboo
The founders Emily Bothwell and Michael Causter are also behind the vintage collection in Topshop. This store has some great funky second hand stuff, as well as designer dresses! http://www.peekaboovintage.com/
East London is generally full of great finds. Just stroll up and down the streets and check out the beautiful boutiques on every corner. I love to spend a good winter evening that way! I’m sure you’ll find a great pub for a break too!
Beyond Retro
Beyond Retro is a store always recommended by the critics, so don’t give this one a miss! They specialize in recycled clothes and distribute to developing countries, which is similar to the concept of Seams For Dreams! And we love to give in style! http://www.beyondretro.com/en/
Lastly Hunky Dory!
No pun intended, that’s the name of the store 🙂 Its a small boutique shop, again both men and women. I’m pretty sure you will find your new favourite accessory there! http://hunkydoryvintage.com/
What I love most about vintage clothes is that it comes with a history… Imagine a 1940s coat that has probably warmed someone in a rough war night! Just owning such a piece of culture and history is priceless. And imagine you donating one of your old pieces to Seams For Dreams will actually help someone else in need! Fashion now gives back to humanity, so keep donating!”
Love,
Anisa Butt
