There is something that you can do with almost every piece of old clothing or accessory that is in your wardrobe. At Seams for Dreams, we are obsessed with upcycling and want to share some of our ideas with you so that you can start taking on some easy DIY projects at home! Upcycle everything you’re wearing from head to toe and get started ASAP.
- Hats
Did you notice that when you flip a baseball hat, it kind of looks like a basket? Well, hats are awesome to organize little knick-knacks you have around your bed. Flip the hat and stick the bill under your mattress and create a lazy little basket close to you for your remote and cell phone!
- Sweaters
You can actually turn your old sweaters into socks and cuffs that go above the top of your boots. You can even make quite fashionable beanies with sweaters for those chilly winters!
- T-shirts
T-shirts are wonderful for baby hats and tote bags. If you want to do something with all of your old t-shirts and have lots of different colours, you can even make a lovely braided rug using long pieces of cut fabric from them. This project will take a little more time, but the end result is worth it!
- Flannel shirts
Flannel shirts are so warm and comfy, so we understand if you don’t want to get rid of them. Instead, take old flannel shirts and create a scarf or a patchwork quilt if you have 5-6 shirts you don’t mind losing.

- Jeans
Jeans can be used to create baskets for your laundry or other items that you need to organize around the house. Use different shades of denim to make lovely denim patchwork pillow covers.
