Kicking off our celebrity interviews on the Seams For Dreams BLOG, who would be better than the beautiful actress, amazing performer and philanthropist Elli Avram!
We all started loving Elli for her sweet personality on Bigg Boss and she convinced us of her talent as a performer opposite Kapil Sharma in Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karoon! What many don’t know is that this gorgeous girl who recently moved to India discovered a love for giving back to the people around her. Empowering the underprivileged, she actively supports the Smile Foundation in their mission to provide education and just shot the new campaign for Salman Khan’s Being Human, who has an amazing record of doing good. Elli of course is always hands-on when using the universal love for fashion to give back to humanity with Seams For Dreams, too!
“Seams For Dreams I believe is a great initiative. It’s such a creative concept and what makes it truly beautiful is that it offers something to everybody. At their Garage Sales, you can pick up a piece of accessory worn by your favourite celebrity or clothes from a famous movie or designer, and your donation will give back to a good cause. I have so many clothes that I would never utilize; so instead of just letting it all collect dust I rather give it to someone for whom it may be of better use. It’s not only an act of kindness but also a very effective way of saving the environment,” says the young actress.
We asked Elli about her favourite vintage piece and she instantly replied that it is a necklace from her grandmother: “We have always shared a very special bond which is why anything that belongs to her is invaluable to me. This necklace has gained the position of a family heirloom and has a very sentimental connect.” Many of these special heirlooms can be found at vintage markets and she tells us that in her college days she used to frequent them a lot: “Vintage markets are such an amazing place to find unique stuff which you would never find anywhere else today. It has a kind of charm which no shopping mall can ever replace.”
We girls all love shopping, don’t we? But what to do with the overflow of fashion sitting in your closet collecting dust? “I love to shop and I end up picking up so many more things than I actually need. Because of the sheer abundance of clothes that I pull together by the end of each shopping trip, a lot of times I don’t even use all the things that I purchase. My cupboard is normally so full that I often forget about a lot of things that I own. However, I make it a point to look into my cupboard periodically and check for the clothes that I still need to use and the ones I must let go of.”
Elli Avram gives back to humanity by donating her old clothes! Be more like Elli 🙂
Keep giving in style!
