Seams For Dreams was started in 2015 to celebrate the universal love for fashion by giving back through various initiatives, including the collection of pre-loved clothing and then donating these to those less privileged. When the organization began, one of my big focuses was to bring together the film and fashion industry in India to contribute to this mission in some way, and over the past few years we’ve really been able to make that happen! It’s so lovely to see so many people come together for a noteworthy cause as the organization grows and expands into new awareness projects.
That’s essentially how our new concept of “Love Bundles” was born. I introduced the beautiful little bags of love as an awareness project that would not only help others, but also educate individuals on the potentials of upcycling and recycling our fabric waste. With the help of some of designer friends from the industry, we created these bundles of joy out of scrap fabric as a way to further the SFD mission and to help more people. Sure, fashion shows and new collection launches are fun and swanky at the surface, but we never truly understand what goes behind making these collections or the detrimental effects on our planet!
A Love Bundle, which is made from scraps that would be otherwise discarded in our landfills as waste, contains personal hygiene, daily care, and lifestyle products for underprivileged girls and women. The Love Bundles are a way to make these ladies feel beautiful and encourage them to take care of themselves. We truly believe that this gift will uplift them and help them be more confident.
