Ever since Founder Evelyn Sharma started Seams For Dreams in 2015, the trend for donating clothes has slowly been spreading across Mumbai and the other big cities. Clothing that would otherwise end up crowding our landfills with waste and unnecessarily occupying space in our closets for years on end are now being put to use to help others in need and it all started with Sharma’s vision to clothe 100,000 people across India. Since then, Seams For Dreams has been keeping its radar on other actors who are also doing their part to contribute to the sustainable fashion movement across India.
Recently, we saw a few more Bollywood actors follow suit and join the giving and donating trend to help others in need.
- Alia Bhatt
In an initiative called “Mi wardrobe is su wardrobe”, the Raazi actress auctioned off clothing at a night market in Khar to then donate the proceeds to provide solar lighting to those with little or no electricity.
- Anushka Sharma
The kurta that the actor wore during the famous “Breakup Song” was auctioned off at SaltScout.com to benefit an animal welfare NGO called Janice’s Trust.
- Shraddha Kapoor
In an Instagram post, Kapoor shared a photo of a box of clothing that she was sending out for a donation. The caption read, “There are many people out there who need to be clothed. Trying to do my bit.”
Keep giving in style!
