The year 2017 has been awesome for the whole Seams for Dreams team. For all our friends and supporters that have been with us all the way from January until now, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Now that we are ending the year with a big bang and starting 2018, we share with all of you the best moments and milestones for Seams for Dreams for the year 2017.
MEMORABLE SFD MILESTONE FOR 2017 ONE: Collaborated with New NGOs such as Sharansthan, Bal Asha Trust, Angel Express Foundation, Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust, and Access Life.
In the year 2017, over 6000 pieces of vintage clothes were handed over to all the affiliated NGOs and were distributed to the people in need further who were benefited from them the most.
The Access Life NGO provides a loving and temporary home for the parents and care takers of children who are undergoing cancer treatment. SFD was able to distribute 22 beautiful articles of high-end clothing to the children to brighten up their Diwali.
MEMORABLE SFD MILESTONE FOR 2017 THREE: Jhelum Gopal Dalvi and Rachel Waters joined the Advisory Board of SFD.
It’s no surprise that Seams For Dreams has been growing rapidly since the start of 2017. Seams For Dreams welcomed Mrs. Jhelum Gopal Dalvi and Mrs. Rachel Waters to the advisory board for the organization.
The whole team of Seams For Dreams was beaming with pride as our founder, actor turned philanthropist Evelyn Sharma, held her first international speech at the National Prayer Breakfast hosted by members of the United States Congress.
SFD and The Hope Collab collaborated to renovate The King George V Memorial elderly home. SFD collected and donated over 100 sets of new bed sheets and participated in a lovely Christmas celebration for the residents.
Evelyn Sharma participated in a house building activity arranged under the campaign ‘WOMEN BUILD India’ by the Habitat for Humanity organization.
The first fashion fundraiser was held on 11th April at the JHELUM fashion house in Santacruz.
On the 10th -11th June 2017, Spoyl, an online community marketplace for secondhand fashion and lifestyle products, hosted a garage sale in true SFD style in Bangalore. Spoyl generously donated 20% of the sale proceeds to SFD.
MEMORABLE SFD MILESTONE FOR 2017 NINE: Seams For Dreams started partnership with Green Soles.
Seams For Dreams partnered with Green Soles, a social enterprise that recycles old shoes and provides them to children in need. SFD founder Evelyn Sharma donated pairs of her own shoes and the organisation was able to transform them into new pairs that were auctioned off to raise funds for charitable causes.
MEMORABLE SFD MILESTONE FOR 2017 TEN: Seams For Dreams launched the New Board Of Visionaries.
This new membership development effort was launched to increase visibility for SFD and allow individuals to become contributing members of SFD. By joining the board, members will get to be a part of all the organization’s initiatives.
MEMORABLE SFD MILESTONE FOR 2017 ELEVEN: Gavin Miguel designs cool shirts for SFD.
The SFD team was privileged to have Gavin Miguel design the shirts for the Garage Sale. The shirts were made from 100 % cotton, assuring good quality and were sold at the 4th annual Christmas Garage Sale.
MEMORABLE SFD MILESTONE FOR 2017 TWELVE: SFD Upcycled Fashion Line.
Our fashion design intern Shagun Joshi was in charge of creating an upcycled fashion line made from scraps from the clothing donations you all have so graciously contributed which was further sold during our garage sale.
MEMORABLE SFD MILESTONE FOR 2017 THIRTEEN: Seams For Dreams 4th Annual Christmas Garage Sale.
This was an exciting time for founder Evelyn Sharma and many of her friends from the film and fashion industry came to support the cause. Many were seen shopping and spreading the holiday cheer with friends.
All contributions from the event, including the clothing and the food and drinks, went to those less fortunate and the turn-out was a raging success!
Happiness can come in all forms, and this jolly season it came in the form of Seams For Dreams and The Hope Collab coming together to celebrate the Christmas Season with the elderly on the 16th of December 2017 at The King George V Memorial, Mahalaxmi in Mumbai.
SFD has truly become the pioneers in bringing the ethical fashion trend to India and hopes that more organizations become motivated through its continuing endeavors to use fashion to give back.
We had so many golden moments shared with everyone this year and as we say goodbye to 2017, we welcome 2018 with open arms, full of hope and positivity, to continue our mission to clothe 100,000 people in India one layer at a time.
Happy New Year to all!
