If you’re looking to get some meaningful holiday shopping done, Pune’s rural celebration festival called the Bhimthadi Jatra is being held this month from 22nd-26th December. For the first time, the festival will have a flea market like section with tasty, regional delicacies and fashion made by artisans from all over rural India.
The Jatra has allocated 20 stalls, where designers and craftsmen will display their art to be purchased. So what will you find at the festival this year? Think beautiful handloom sarees, stoles, tunics, tapestries, jewellery, home accessories, paintings, art and much more. The aim is to raise awareness for artisans and also support the farming and weaving community.
This is a fun-filled four day event that you do not want to miss! The festival has been a government initiative put on by the Agricultural Development Trust since 2006 and we are glad to hear they have made space for fashion this year. Government initiatives like this are picking up steam every year and this is by far one of Pune’s largest cultural events that will be attended by many locals and travellers.
If you happen to be in Pune, do not miss the Bhimthadi Jatra this year! Be ready to shop till you drop this holiday season and support local artisans and craftsmen!
Keep Giving in style!
