Recently, designer Amit Aggarwal spoke to News18 in an exclusive interview about two topics we at Seams For Dreams love too – sarees and sustainability.
Aggarwal is a NIFT graduate and has been known to be a designer who has made being eco-friendly his shtick. In particular, the saree is a garment that “keeps inspiring” him so he has shown showcased his passion by restoring vintage sarees and integrating them into his work. In fact, his last two collections were pieces aesthetically compiled from vintage sarees that were restored and reinvented. This increases the life of the garment and also allows him to influence what younger people may want to wear, making the saree truly a timeless statement.
In terms of sustainability, Aggarwal uses different elements of sustainability including technology, utilizing heritage weaves, and concepts of upcycling in his work now. Aggarwal definitely sees sustainability as the future of fashion and at Seams For Dreams, we love hearing about designers who really care! It is important that designers who in the spotlight are at the forefront of the movement so they can pave the way for others. Aggarwal’s designs have graced the wardrobes of Bollywood actresses like Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, just to name a few.
At Seams For Dreams, we are always glad to spread the word of all the good work happening in the fashion industry!
Keep giving in style!
