Hello Fashionistas!
It’s been a good 10 days since Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai and we’re having major withdrawal symptoms! This season saw it all! The glitz and glamour, the promotion of textiles, sustainable fashion and of course fashion for a cause!
So here are a few highlights of all that went down at fashion week!
Manish Malhotra opened the week with a well put together show! The runway looked absolutely gorgeous: paper cut birds, trees and so much splendor!
The front row saw all the biggest names Kareena Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Sangeeta Bijlani ,Sophie Chodhary, Farah Khan and two stunning showstoppers: Arjun Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez. Manish’s beautiful designs were a fresh mix of contemporary and traditional Indian festive wear.
Our favourite fashion week moment: When the glowing and very pregnant gorgeous as ever Carol Gracias sashayed down the ramp for designer Gaurang!
Surprise factor: Huemn were the only designers to showcase their Fall/Winter ‘16 collection already!
WOW moment: Lakme Fashion Week got the one and only Sabyasachi Mukherjee to interview Renzo Rosso, the man behind DIESEL! The talk was a candid conversation between the two legendary designers and a very inspiring note for all newcomers!
The extra cool moment: Seasoned designer Anand Kabra showcased his pieces at the Palladium Mall parking lot, Level P6! Oh yes he did! And the showcase was absolute gorgeousness!
Stage One at fashion week saw some really cool, fun and innovative designers. We loved what we saw at the ASA, The Meraki Project, Verandah by Anjali, Siddhartha Bansal and THREE.
Shout out to the most glamorous and wearable: Lakme Salon Illuminate and Nikhil Thampi, who put together a stunning show. Thampi’s sleek designs are stunningly OTT yet super wearable for every stylish woman!

Show stoppers at this fashion week brought down the house with glamour and we must say Sonakshi Sinha’s little runway dance with our favourite designer/philanthropist Anita Dongre was the most adorable moment for us!
Last but not the least, the Grand Finale showcased the ace designer Rohit Bal!
To everyone’s surprise it was held at the St. Xaviers College. LEDs lit up the entire structure through the flow of the show. Rohit Bal had the best models in the fashion industry walk the ramp for him. Showstopper and the face of Lakme was none other than Bollywood’s own fashionista Kareena Kapoor Khan! This show was a whole new experience and rounded up Lakme Fashion Week in a great extravaganza.
Now the afterparty is another story I will save for next time 😉
