Dear Readers,
There are so many things I would love to talk about on this blog, so let’s make this post a little personal… Today I want to share something I learned this week:
Gratitude.
I believe gratitude is the key to a happy life. Gratitude for what God has given you, gratitude for what people have done for you and gratitude towards yourself for just being an amazing person! I feel in our fast lives and busy careers we forget to take a minute to sit down and appreciate what we have.
This week was quite tough on me personally. Sometimes things just don’t go the way you wish they would. The bad experience overshadows everything good in your life and you start questioning your whole existence and purpose. How is it possible that one negative thing can outweigh the ten good things that are going on at the same time? These are the moments to remind yourself to be grateful. Write them down! The ten things you are grateful for, and suddenly the world will look like sunshine and flowers again! Enough of the rainy days! Look around you and see how GREAT your life is!
With this I realized that true thankfulness blooms in your heart when you see gratitude in someone else’s eyes. Someone with a broken heart suddenly smiles again. Take time to do something good today. Just a small gesture of kindness will make another person’s day, and yours, too! Take a friend out for that long due lunch! Listen to your Grandpa’s story once more. Give a hug to that person you always rush by.
So instead of fueling my resentment and depression caused by the bad incidents in my personal life this week, I reminded myself to be grateful. Of course immediately I had to think about Seams For Dreams and how much joy it brings me to see this organization grow! My gratitude is towards my team who works so hard on this dream with me, to find people who have lost their smiles simply to tell them with a new dress that we care about them! My gratitude is towards the amazing people donating their own beautiful clothes to bring back that smile on a little girl’s face! My gratitude is towards YOU, our readers, who want to be a part of our movement to give in style and to do good to the people around you. You guys make me happy every day!
So when you’re feeling down, remind yourself to be grateful and know that your life has a purpose!
Leave a comment here to tell us what you are thankful for; we’d love to hear your story!
Love,
Evelyn.
