Actor and philanthropist Evelyn Sharma visits the Bombay Teen Challenge center for rescued girls in the outskirts of Mumbai.
Mumbai, 14 September 2015. Actor Evelyn Sharma who recently turned philanthropist with her charity foundation “Seams For Dreams”, which uses the universal love for fashion to give back to humanity, visited a center for girls rescued from human trafficking in the outskirts of Mumbai.
Bombay Teen Challenge, a non-profit organisation founded 25 years ago, rescues, restores and empowers lives that are trapped in the web of human trafficking. Evelyn Sharma and Seams For Dreams support this initiative to Set Beautiful Free along with many other humanitarians like Vivek Oberoi, Ranbir Kapoor, Neeta Ambani and CM Devendra Fadnavis, who at a recent fundraiser declared their heartfelt sentiments to the cause.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani actor made an appearance at the center last Tuesday and was welcomed with open arms and lots of excitement by the girls! “Evelyn didi brought us so many cool clothes! I still can’t believe that some of the clothes are from her own closet!” one of the teenage girls quipps happily.
“Every girl loves shopping, every girl loves to dress up and feel pretty. We fully support BTC’s mission to Set Beautiful Free and I was stunned seeing the amazing center and school they have built for the girls. Seams For Dreams is my dream come true! We arranged for a small ‘Garage Sale – Special Edition’ at the center with the clothes donations received at our organisation which the girls could pick as per their liking. All the clothes were gone in minutes and the girls spent the day chatting away about Ranbir and Aditya with me!” laughs Evelyn.
“We are thankful to Seams For Dreams and Evelyn to provide the girls with so many beautiful clothes. It’s a great initiative to give back in style! We started the initiative to Set Beautiful Free four years ago and am very happy about how it developed and are thankful for the great support we are receiving!” says Vandana Kripalani, marketing head of Bombay Teen Challenge.
Evelyn Sharma has been greatly supported by the fashion and Bollywood industry in her mission to make giving back the new fashion statement. You can donate your old clothes over www.seamsfordreams.com.
