Building a sustainable future was the focus of the 50th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos this past January. The theme of the very important gathering was aptly titled “Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World” and leaders from our respective governments got together to discuss the world’s most pressing issues and how to solve them. Simultaneously, advocates and organizations at a more local level are also putting on their events to continue spreading awareness and contributing to the cause. Our planet’s health and welfare are under attack and the real-life influencers can truly be a voice to bring about positive change.
On the 8th of February at Pioneer Hall in Bandra, Dysco, a local networking platform based out of Mumbai, is bringing together like-minded individuals in fields such as food, responsible fashion, technology, urban planning, animal welfare, and renewable energy to discuss ideas and insights. Actual solutions will be discussed, and attendees will have access to a host of information through workshops and art that will be at the event. The founder of the platform Khrisha Shah had the vision to bring together a community consisting of individuals that shared a similar mission of sustainability. Last year, the event was called Bread & Butter, which was only focused on food, so this year Shah wanted to marry the two concepts and broaden the umbrella since many of these industries go hand-in-hand.
This year, the event boasts a roster of over 50 Subject Matter Experts in attendance, a diverse program, performances, and even a career fair. The highlight of the event this year will be a segment called Pitch-a PechaKucha, which is hosted by the event’s sponsor Lightbox, a Mumbai-based Venture Capital firm. Each person selected to pitch has 20 seconds to present 20 slides, which gives each complete pitch a whopping 400 seconds to get an idea across to the audience. After this, the audience has 6 minutes and 40 seconds to decide if they choose to collaborate, join, or invest in each idea. 8-10 lucky entrepreneurs will share a unique opportunity to have their ideas heard and potentially funded!
To attend the event, tickets can be purchased here. Seams For Dreams is happy to hear about so many more events that are popping up around Mumbai that discuss the importance of sustainability – it’s more important now than ever to stay informed and involved!
Keep giving in style!
