This past Christmas, our founder Evelyn Sharma and the Seams For Dreams team partnered with The Hope Collab to celebrate Christmas at The King George V Memorial at Mahalaxmi with the elderly. For the Seams For Dreams team, this event sparked a further interest in helping the elderly population around Mumbai. Based on an article published in 2016, 65% of the elderly in India are poor and don’t have access to basic needs such as suitable housing, medications, and nutritious food. Furthermore, some of them even face issues such as abuse and isolation, and many of them are not even aware of their rights.
At Seams For Dreams, we plan on helping the elderly by strategically partnering with organizations such as The Hope Collab, that are already doing fantastic work and reach out to the people in their neighborhoods to spread love and light.
With that being said, we are proud to announce that our newest outreach program aims to renovate The King George V Memorial, who urgently requires new linens among many other things. In order to mobilize donations, Seams For Dreams will reach out to large factories and manufacturers that may have surplus supplies of linens, such as bed sheets, to offer on behalf of charity. This is a great way for large retailers and factories to get involved with a cause that is doing something wonderful to help a community of people in Mumbai. However, Seams For Dreams and The Hope Collab believe that we should be the change we want to see and every one of us who has an extra bedsheet would make a difference by donating it.
Mobilize the people around you, your friends and family and start collecting their gently used bedsheets and send them to us before 15th of May.
