A rose, isn’t your usual flower. It’s a symbol to express your love, care and affection for someone special in your life. While a red rose, is always special, what’s even more special is a rose that you make by yourself. That’s a gift, nobody will ever forget. Here at Seams For Dreams, we continually want to spread the message of love, so let’s take a peek into this lovely tutorial for making Fabric Roses right away.

2016-11-11-20-30-15-829Below mentioned are the materials you will require for the tutorial:

  1. 1 Wooden Garden Stick (for a rustic look)
  2. A glue gun
  3. 2 inches wide strip of fabric
  4. Green tape
  5. 1 scissor

Instructions:

a) Start off by using a wooden garden stick but you can also use a stick from outside for a rustic look. This will simply enhance the look of the fabric rose. The strip of fabric can be any length you want, depending on how “full” you want your flower to be. My strip in this example was 2 inches wide.

b) Start by hot gluing your strip of fabric to the stick. You’ll want to make sure that you have about an inch of fabric sticking above the stick.

c) Then wrap the fabric around the stick and add a dab of glue to secure the rose.

d) Keep wrapping the fabric around the stick and gluing as you go. Instead of wrapping it tight though, pinch the bottom of the fabric a little before gluing to bunch it up. This is so that your flower’s layers spread out instead of being all stuck together tightly.

e) Keep wrapping and bunching and slightly move down the stick.

f) Pinch the fabric to bunch and then glue to keep going.

g) When you get to the end, fold the top corner down to create a triangle and glue in place.

h) Grab your green felt and cut a strip about an inch and a half in height by about 2 inches long. The size will depend on the width of your stick. Cut some zig zags into the top.

i) Glue the felt around the bottom of your flower to finish it off and hold everything in place.

j) You can then paint your sticks. I have used a green acrylic paint for a finished look.

So there it is. Each of these Fabric Roses take about 5-10 minutes to make, and they most definitely can make your day and bring a smile on the face of your special ones. Make a bunch of them and stick them in a vase and you’ve got a nice bouquet which you can send out as a special gift this Christmas or on any other special occasion or holiday to your loved ones.
